I think a lot about LLMs, Leo. Part of me wonders if they are just our version of the cotton gin, a technological advancement that will absolutely displace workers but is coming anyway due to late stage capitalism.

Indeed. I have never relied on humans feeling motivated to ask, "just because we can, should we?" Self control is not a strong suit for the ambitious.

My best hope is that the growing presence of so much dangerously low quality culture may spur new audiences to seek higher qualities.

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein touches upon many difficult themes so beautifully. One that comes back to me as that once something is possible, it is just about inevitable that some schmuck does it regardless of if it is a good idea.
